Delhi to Manali Road Trip Guide
July 10, 2026 · 1 min read

The drive from Delhi to Manali is around 500 km and one of North India’s most loved road trips — from the plains, along the Beas river, and up into the Himalayas. With a chauffeur at the wheel, you get to enjoy the views instead of watching the road.
The route at a glance
The usual path runs Delhi – Karnal – Ambala – Chandigarh – Bilaspur – Mandi – Kullu – Manali. Expect 12 to 14 hours depending on traffic and breaks.

Best stops along the way
- Karnal or Murthal — the classic paratha breakfast halt
- Chandigarh — a good stretch-and-coffee break
- Sundarnagar Lake — a calm spot as the hills begin
- Pandoh Dam — dramatic river views before Mandi
When to travel
Leaving Delhi late evening or very early morning helps you clear city traffic and reach the hills by afternoon. March to June and September to November offer the most pleasant driving conditions.

What to pack
Layers for the temperature drop, a light jacket even in summer, chargers, motion-sickness tablets if you’re prone, and a flask for chai at the viewpoints. Leave the driving to us and travel light.
